The program this month will be a presentation on the high-tech world of AI (Artificial Intelligence). The exponential advancement of Artificial Intelligence has recently gotten to a point where it can outperform humans in several highly competitive job markets, including the media.
Companies such as OpenAI and Google are developing the most advanced AI algorithms (or systems) that are starting to understand the world like the way we experience it. These model algorithms are all good at certain tasks, but now they’re trying to combine them in ways to create a working “Artificial General Intelligence” for our future.
We will highlight some of the mind-blowing capabilities of AI to date and explain the possible impact this can have on our society for better or for worse.
Notable individuals such as the Tesla and SpaceX leader and innovator Elon Musk, and the late legendary physicist Stephen Hawkins believe that AI could be very dangerous.
Elon Musk had compared AI to the danger posed by the North Korean dictator, and Stephen Hawkins had said that the development of full Artificial Intelligence could spell the end of the human race.
We will show why these concerns demand immediate actions by the hi-tech community and governmental agencies to develop safety measures and necessary regulations.
In the prelude to the main program will be time for announcements, introduction of new members, and an opportunity for attendees to share their thoughts on any subject – such as latest political news headlines, or recommendation on a book, a movie, a restaurant, etc.
