Café Inquiry (Online) – How We Entertain Ourselves
August 28, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

This event is held online. (Click the button to join the Zoom meeting.)
All of us, or at least most of us I hope, have leisure activities that we enjoy. This week we take a break from some of the weightier topics we’ve been exploring (gun safety, abortion history, ballot initiatives, wrongful criminal convictions) to talk about what we enjoy doing in our leisure time. What books, articles, periodicals or what have you are we reading? What television shows, movies, or video content are we watching? What music, discussions, or podcasts are we listening to? What online or in person games are we playing? In what other ways do we fill our leisure time – assuming we have some? This is our chance to share our favorite activities and hear what others are enjoying. It will be a good way to find out something about the people we see in the little boxes on our screens twice a month, and maybe we’ll be turned on to some new TV series, movies, books, games, or other enjoyable pastime. This will be our last Café Inquiry of the summer (yes, I know the second Sunday in September is still officially summer, but it’s after Labor Day so doesn’t really count as actual summer), so let’s have fun with this one before we return to more serious, but hopefully still fascinating, topics!
Café Inquiry starts with a short introduction of the day’s topic, followed by casual discussion.
This event is free and open to the public. Donations appreciated, but not expected.
Attendees are able to future propose topics which would align with Michigan Humanist’s purpose: from atheism, agnosticism, humanism, secularism, and freethinking to broader subjects in science and humanities, such as religion, philosophy, social issues, politics, evolution, morality, ethics, and psychology.
Café Inquiry (Grand Rapids) meets each month on the second and fourth Sunday.
