Café Inquiry (Muskegon and Online) – Why Is Christianity So Successful?
September 8, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

This event is held online and in person. (Click the button to join the Zoom meeting).
In Person Meeting Address – 3268 Millard Ave, Muskegon, MI. Outdoors, weather permitting.
Whether a historical Jesus existed or not – and historians are split on this question – the religion founded in his name almost 2000 years ago has become the largest in the world, with an estimated 2.38 billion adherents as of 2020. [Also note that Islam, a younger religion by several hundred years, has just under 2 billion followers. Who knows what the breakdown will be in another 600 years or so?] What was it that led to this widespread propagation? Was it something about the teachings of Christianity, the historical context in which it was developed, or a fortuitous (for Christianity) combination of factors? Join us as we discuss the spread of Christianity and the possible reasons behind it!
Café Inquiry starts with a short introduction of the day’s topic, followed by casual discussion.
This event is free and open to the public. Donations appreciated, but not expected.
Attendees are able to future propose topics which would align with Michigan Humanist’s purpose: from atheism, agnosticism, humanism, secularism, and freethinking to broader subjects in science and humanities, such as religion, philosophy, social issues, politics, evolution, morality, ethics, and psychology.
Café Inquiry (Muskegon) meets each month on the second Thursday.
